St. Leon Wind Farm Drive and Lunch at Syl’s Drive Inn, Carman

A group of 18 cars met earlier than usual at the parking lot across from Frankie’s near the Porsche dealer and from there we headed out to St. Leon. We had a pit stop in St. Claude and the restrooms were very well used!

After the short stop we headed down Hwy 2, turning onto Hwy 244 and then onto Hwy 23. A short distance down Hwy 23 we turned onto Chemin Messner which is the road to St. Leon. Thank you to member Tom Dobson, for the suggestion to utililze this paved road! We pulled around a circular drive with an interpretive display about the wind farms. We all walked to be under a wind turbine and member Ken Klassen gave an extremely informative talk about power systems including hydro electric, solar and more specifically wind technology!

More thanks to member Tom Dobson who came to the rescue of members with a tired battery by retrieving some jumper cables and getting them back onto the road!

From there the group drove to Syl’s Drive Inn in Carman and everyone enjoyed a casual lunch and visit before heading on their way!

We look forward to seeing you at future events!

Upcoming events include: June 22 – Half Moon Drive Inn, Lockport; July 5 – L&J Drive Inn and Second Chance Car Museum, Treherne.
