Did you Know? August 2020

As everyone I’m sure , knows by now we are experiencing very unusual times. We have not been able to have a regular club meeting since March. We have had to find new ways to have safe gatherings with friends and family.

Being the innovative creatures we are RRR has had some very successful events this summer.

In May we experienced our first Gimmick Rally, Organized by VP George Derwin and Catherine Carlson. We had a great turn out and all who participated had a good time and are looking forward to the next Rally. We hope to make this an annual spring event.

This was followed by our first “ Fill a Frunk” food drive for Winnipeg Harvest where 22 cars came out with Frunks and back seats filled with groceries for our local food bank. This was so successful everyone suggested we do another in the fall so we Plan a “Fall Fill a Frunk” for Sat Sept 19 at 10 am, to be followed with a Drive after we unload our cars. Further details will follow over the next few weeks. This will be another event we will hold annually.

The Club just completed a day trip to Hekla this past Saturday  with several members taking part in the Drive that started at Kildonan Park at 9 am and proceeded north, stopping briefly at Gimli for a pit stop before continuing on to Hecla. At the resort we all gathered on the outdoor patio for lunch….safely distanced between tables of 4 and enjoyed the sun and good company. Following lunch members were free to explore the area on there own and made their way back to the City at their leisure.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we have had great participation with the Saturday Cars and Coffee at De Lucas Market at South Landing off McGillvray west. Each time we have gathered about  35 to 40 cars have attended. This again has proved to be a safe venue to get  together for members to visit and catch up with each other, not to mention experiencing De Lucas Market. If you haven’t yet been out, mark your calendars for the next C&C on August 29  from 10am until noon.

Cheers

Dennis
