The Red River Region’s 20th anniversary premier event was the Red River Rockies Tour on June 13 to 16, 2019. The event was held at the Copper Point Resort in Invermere BC. The resort is located 2 hours past Banff on “the warm side of the Rockies”. The event was very well organised by Dennis & Beverly Duncan.
The event was limited to the first 40 cars registered and include a welcome reception and meet and greet on Wed June 12 and A farewell pizza party on Sat June 15 and some great driving.
Many participants came for allover the Northwest and travelled a couple hours or several days.
Participating Regions: Red River (12), BC Interior (12), Inland Northwest (4), Polar (1), Vancouver Island (2), Wild Rose (3), Pacific Northwest (1), Siver Sage (1)
We had 3 days of guided tours.
Thursday started with a tour to the heritage village of Fort Steele. We had have lunch there with some extra time to explore the many sights in the village. Participants then had 2 different ways back to Copper Point.
In the evening some members went downtown Invermere to watch the Raptors win the NBA championship.
Day 2 We headed north to Golden BC, in three groups. Then across the great divide to lunch in the Town of Lake Louise at the Post Hotel. Some participants ventured to The Lake Louise Chateau area and Lake Moraine nearby.
The Red River Region members finished the day with some German Food at the Black Forest Steak and Schnitzel House.
On day 3 we ventured to Alberta. The drive went through the scenic Bow Valley parkway before arriving in Banff. Since Banff downtown is not very parking lot friendly we parked at the Cave and used a school bus to get back to heart of Banff. In the heart of the downtown area we went for lunch at the Elk and Oarsman. After lunch many explored Banff, before heading back to our Resort.
The pool at the resort was a welcome refreshment in the afternoon, just before for the farewell party.
